Burkina Faso’s Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo is the new president of the West African Football Union Zone B after Ibrahim Musa Gusau left his role as president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Gusau’s exit from the NFF presidency also ended his leadership of the regional football organisation.
WAFU B confirmed Sawadogo’s appointment in a statement issued to welcome him to the post.
“We are delighted to welcome Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo as President of WAFU-B,” the organisation said. “We wish him every success in his new position and anticipate working with him to promote the development of football across West Africa.”
Gusau had held the WAFU B presidency alongside his responsibilities as NFF president.
Sawadogo will lead the regional federation representing the football associations within the West African Zone B bloc.
