SuperSport’s Week of Sporting Action Features WAFCON Finals and Major Showdowns

DStv and GOtv viewers are set for a packed week of sport, headlined by the closing stages of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Community Shield and the Trophée des Champions.

Football will dominate the schedule as WAFCON enters its decisive phase in Morocco, with the semi-finals due to be played on Wednesday.

Defending champions Nigeria will have no part in the last four after the Super Falcons suffered a 1-0 quarter-final defeat against Cameroon. As a result, the competition will produce a new winner when it ends on Sunday.

Algeria will meet Malawi in Wednesday’s opening semi-final, while hosts Morocco will face Cameroon at 21:00 WAT. Both games will be shown live on SuperSport. The third-place match is set for Saturday, followed by Sunday’s final in Rabat, which begins at 20:00 WAT.

The UEFA Super Cup will provide another chance to see European silverware contested on Wednesday, when Paris Saint-Germain take on Aston Villa at Stadion Salzburg in Austria. Champions League holders PSG will play Europa League winners Aston Villa, with the match live on SuperSport at 20:00 WAT.

Sunday’s programme continues with the FA Community Shield, where Arsenal will face Manchester at 15:00 WAT. The traditional opening fixture of the English season will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

There will also be an early-season trophy on offer in France as Lens welcome PSG to Stade Bollaert-Delelis for the Trophée des Champions on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 WAT, with SuperSport providing live coverage.

La Liga’s new campaign begins on Saturday, when Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and the rest of Spain’s leading clubs launch their respective seasons.

Cricket will offer further entertainment, with The Hundred reaching its conclusion on Sunday. The women’s final will be followed by the men’s decider, and both matches will be available on SuperSport Cricket.

Combat sports will round out the weekend offering as UFC 330 comes to Philadelphia on Saturday, providing another headline event on SuperSport’s schedule.
