Genk head coach Jess Thorup expects Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi to make a major impression in Belgium after completing a record-breaking transfer to the club.
With the new campaign still to come, Thorup said he has no doubt that Durosinmi has the tools to thrive in the Belgian league before making a future move to one of Europe’s leading competitions.
“Durosinmi has the qualities required for the demanding Belgian competition,” Thorup said. “He is a tall striker, a powerful presence in the air and very strong when competing in physical battles.”
Thorup further described success in Belgium as an excellent route for a forward hoping to earn a move to the German Bundesliga.
“When a striker performs well in Belgium, he is prepared for the Bundesliga. German clubs therefore follow this league very closely. I know that from my own two years with Augsburg,” he added.
