Crystal Palace have added Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu to their squad, with the 27-year-old reportedly joining the South London club on a free transfer.
Tomiyasu becomes Palace’s second summer recruit
The versatile defender is manager Pierre Sage’s second arrival of the summer window. Palace previously brought in Oscar Mingueza, another defender.
- Tomiyasu can operate as either a full-back or a centre-back.
- He spent the latter part of the previous season with Dutch powerhouse Ajax.
- The Japan international has collected 46 senior caps.
- He was included in Japan’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Palace build on a remarkable two-year run
The signing comes after an outstanding period for Palace, who have claimed three major honours across the last two seasons. Under former head coach Oliver Glasner, the club lifted the FA Cup, the Community Shield and the UEFA Conference League.
Tomiyasu and Parish welcome the move
Tomiyasu said he was eager to begin his time at Palace, describing the club as being in an excellent phase after securing three trophies in two seasons. He added that joining the team was where he had wanted to be.
Chairman Steve Parish praised the defender’s background at the top level of both European and international football. He said Palace were delighted to bring in a player of Tomiyasu’s quality.
