The Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation (WYCDF) will stage the second Wamufat Sports Camp in Ogun State from August 3 to 8.
The six-day programme is being delivered with the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), United States-based Run Your City (RYC), and Agroterra Resort.
Quick facts
- Dates: August 3–8
- Participants: Children aged 10 to 16
- Sports: Athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, tennis and Ayo
- Final day: Community Race Day and closing awards on Saturday, August 8
Young participants will receive coaching, mentoring and character-building instruction at no cost. The programme will cover athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, tennis and Ayo, while daily values sessions will promote discipline, respect and teamwork.
The camp builds on the first edition, held in August 2025 at the Agroterra Sports Complex in Joga-Orile, which attracted more than 450 children. Organisers said follow-up assessments found that almost 60 percent had sampled a sport for the first time, while most participants said their confidence had improved.
The inaugural camp also included visits from Nigerian sporting figures such as Olympic medallist Mary Onyali and former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju.
WYCDF president Fatimoh Muhammed said the first camp demonstrated the impact of collective community support for children. She added that this year’s edition would extend that work by involving more youngsters, strengthening the mentoring programme and helping participants develop both in sport and in their wider lives.
NSSF will oversee the camp’s technical programme and day-to-day operations, with RYC contributing coaching expertise. Agroterra Resort will host the event as its official venue.
The week-long programme will finish with a public community Race Day and a closing awards presentation on Saturday, August 8.
