
Former Heartland FC winger Wisdom Samuel has thanked Rivers United after completing his move to North Cyprus club Dumlupinar TSK, ending his time with the Nigeria Premier Football League side.
Samuel begins new chapter in North Cyprus
The winger switched to Dumlupinar in August 2026 after producing an outstanding campaign for Rivers United, where he emerged as one of the Pride of Rivers’ leading performers.
- Samuel, who is capable of playing on the left flank or in other attacking positions, signed for Dumlupinar on August 13.
- His agreement with the North Cyprus club is scheduled to remain in effect until May 30, 2027.
Before arriving at Rivers United last season, Samuel represented Sporting Lagos and Heartland FC. Those spells gave him important NPFL experience before his move to Port Harcourt provided another stage in his development.
Winger pays tribute to Rivers United
After confirming his departure, Samuel issued an open letter thanking Rivers United’s hierarchy, technical team, squad and supporters for helping him progress as a footballer.
Addressing the entire club community, he offered his sincere gratitude and said the management, coaches, teammates and fans had shown faith in him, backed him and created the opportunity for him to improve.
Samuel described his Rivers United spell as a memorable period packed with enjoyable experiences, important lessons and moments he would not forget.
Samuel leaves with warm memories
As he turns his attention to his first experience of Cypriot football, Samuel said he was departing with affection, appreciation and deep respect for the club.
He added that Rivers United would always hold a meaningful place in his heart, thanked the club for its support and wished the team success and an excellent season ahead, ending his message with the club’s “Up Rivers!” rallying cry.
