In fear of sounding too cliché, we will refrain from pointing out that Remona Moodley, representative for Miss World South Africa, is more than just a pretty face. But it’s important to note that the young princess has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cape Town.

What projects are you currently involved in?

I am a member of Mensa – a society for people with an IQ in the top two percent.

Who is your Role Model?

My dad is my role model and mentor. As a young person he had to drop out of school to help his family financially by painting Sari’s and selling samosas. Determined to give his own family a better life than his own, he did not let his circumstances determine his future. Through hard work and perseverance, he now owns his own business. My father always encouraged me to go after everything I wanted and assured me that failure is often delayed success.

Who is your favourite local musician?

Lindiwe Suttle. Her music is so soulful and her intimate live performances make for a great night out with close friends.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård (Eric in True Blood).

What are your favourite local holiday spot?

Cape Town will always be my favourite holiday destination. I studied there for a few years and felt like I was on holiday every day.

What is your beauty routine?

I use Iman skincare range and make-up because it is great on darker skin. I often exercise at home because it’s difficult to get to the gym with my hectic schedule and when I find the time, I thoroughly enjoy a good yoga class.

What’s your number one style tip?

I believe it’s not so much about what you wear but rather, how you wear it.

And your number one make-up tip?

Highlighter below the eyebrow and at the corner of the eyes really brightens your eyes and makes them pop. Eye drops are a must have in any ladies handbag – for those days you feel so tired but cannot afford to show it.

What is your Pet Peeve?

Bad manners.
