Did someone send a land-themed memo to the hip hop fraternity?

Although many are hailing Cassper Nyovest’s “the land is ours” themed music video for his latest single, Ksazobalit, it seems as though he’s not the only one who had this idea.

The video (which Nyovest and his video girl, Pearl Thusi, attempted to promote via a seemingly staged Twitter war) was released on Freedom Day, 27 April 2018.

Coincidentally, it was the same day that Ambitiouz Entertainment’s newest artist, Kraizie, released a video with a similar theme  for his song ‘Pebep’ (pronounced the way kids do when they’re emulating the sound of a car’s hooter).

Yikes.

This is not the first time Nyovest has appealed to the prevailing political sentiment of the day. You may remember that he released a video that was an ode to the fees must fall movement back in 2016 titled ‘War Ready.

Seeing as music videos and the conceptualization that happens prior to filming happens weeks (sometimes, months) in advance, there is not way of knowing who did it first – unless both parties come forward with documentation.

Either way, as fans, we are grateful to occasionally get something other than the usual house party, babes in bikinis, and flourescent lights vibe.
