Nothing could have summed up this
next chapter in Ayanda Thabethe’s life better than the words she uttered during
her speech at the LEGiT Summer 2016 launch held yesterday at The Park, House of
Events on Seven in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.
“This isn’t my first year in the [entertainment]
industry but it’s the first year where I feel like I’ve made an impact,” said
Thabethe.
And what an impact it has been!
In addition to doing some work with E! Africa following their launch, the
model, actress and business woman also managed to get a role on the fourth
season of the Mzansi Magic show, Rockville. She was then revealed as one of the
hosts of BET Africa’s new show, BET A-List alongside Nandi Madida (nee Mngoma).
And now she’s the face of LEGiT’s
three-tiered summer range which includes three capsules called the festival
shop, the holiday shop and the party shop respectively.
In addition to the laughs that
host, Mpho Pops Modikane provided, we were treated to a fashion show at the
launch and there are a number of pieces we fell in love with. Fashion lovers
across south Africa will no doubt scoop up these faves which include a pale
silver slip dress, the printed frilly crop and palazzo pants combo, the mesh bikini
cover ups, the bikinis and the shoes… Oh the shoes!
There are also a few numbers in
the range that will allow everyone to look like their favourite Instagrammer
but you’ll have to hurry if you want them as this is a limited edition range.
A few of Mzansi’s favourite
famous faces were even at the launch to show love to Ayanda following her
achievement. We spotted the likes of Somizi Mhlongo (who choregraphed the
show), Lerato Sengadi, Liesel Laurie, Phil Mphela, Mome Nale Ngcobodwane and
Ayanda’s beau, Mthokozisi ‘Dash’ Makhathini.
Her family was also there to
witness the proud moment.
