Gqom superstar Babes Wodumo has been added to the list of artists who have missed out on paid gigs, and who have failed to pitch for them. Understandably, for Babes she is still in the mourning phase after having lost her husband Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo and mother-in-law Zamanguni Gumede in the past two months. But, event organisers are set on not booking the Ganda Ganda hitmaker, after failing to pitch for the gigs.

Zimoja reports that Babes failed to pitch for three events and organisers are fuming. One released a statement apologising to event goers as only one out of the three booked artists bothered to pitch for an event.
“As we all know that we held an event on Saturday, 28 of January and unfortunately only one artist showed up for the event instead of the two artists shown on the poster. We as Estradini Lifestyle apologise sincerely as it was a situation, we had no control over. Babes Wodumo did not show up for the event and when we tried contacting her, she was unreachable on the phone.
“We kept our end of the bargain and paid her; we have attached proof of payment below. We apologise for the inconvenience. We kindly ask everyone who attended yesterday’s event to keep their tickets for our next event,” wrote the Estradini Lifestyle management team.
Another organiser, Thami Vilakazi who owns Ora Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg told the blog that booking Babes is very risky business, “It is very risky to book Babes Wodumo these days because she doesn’t show up and her management does not communicate with us event organisers. They are only taking money and then going awol. I’m done booking her.”
The third establishment to accuse Babes of pulling a no-show is Second Half Bar and Restaurant in Nquthu.

The legendary music producer DJ Ganyani shared a WhatsApp status from a user who commented, "The entertainment industry has become a gold mine for artists. They do not respect our hustle as establishments. It's always excuses for not pitching up. It never used to happen back in the day," the status reads before proceeding to mention a few of the top stars including Ganyani himself.
"These new cats forever letting us down by not pitching and people that look up to them always have to explain and it makes us look like we are scamming customers."
Ganyani added his opinion, "It's heartbreaking to read such concerns from establishments. today most of us have long standing careers because of the mutually beneficial relationships we have with establishments & fans. Respect your bread and butter, your career is dependent on your respect for all stakeholders."
