You know a magazine cover is a success when it gets people talking, whether the cover is good or bad if we remember it, it's then definitely worth the talk.
Honestly, most of the magazine covers were quite impressive and we actually had a hard time picking the best and the worst for this list.
In no particular order, here are the best 2016 magazine covers.
Best:
We obviously have to start with Elle magazine. This April cover with Black Coffee and Monique Sterling was on point.
Bonang Matheba slayed this July issue of Marie Claire magazine, after all, she is the Queen of slayage.
The creative team behind the Bona Magazine covers of 2016 really knew what they were doing, most if not every Bona magazine cover got our thumbs up from Somizi Mhlongo's cover.
Boity's September issue.
Essays magazine had the gorgeous Masechaba Ndlovu on their September issue.
Nomzamo Mbathi served us some serious leg on this April issue of Destiny. #GirlUyababa
Destiny magazine ended the year with the very gorgeous Nandi Madida. The hair, the smile and the neck piece... just perfect.
The colors on this September issue of True Love magazine with Pearl Modiadie represent Spring very well and of course her outfit is the bomb. We like it.
Simplicity is the best...November issue of True Love magazine with Leleti Khumalo was simple but the best.
This must be the best cover in the history of South African magazine. We love how Elle Magazine didn't try to change Caster Semenya to fit the image of how a cover girl should look like. Thank you Elle Magazine South Africa.

We are no magazine cover experts, we are just giving you magazines that appealed and those that did not appeal to us in 2016. The following covers are those that had us questioning if they really let this go to print and if maybe they were sabotaged.
Worst:
This April issue of True Love magazine could have been a great one, the airbrushing or whatever they did on Boity's skin is the reason why this cover is on this list.
Now, this June issue of True Love magazine with Lerato Kganyago must be the worst magazine cover of the year, talk about photoshop gone wrong, and the drama that followed after, is something we would rather not indulge in.
