The best part of the Vodacom Durban July promises to be even better

A few years ago, one of the longest standing events on the South African social calendar, the Vodacom Durban July, added a new dimension to the festivities with the Airey Scott Boomtown stage. And now, nine years later, the organizers promise it’s going to be even better.

A select media audience was invited to the swanky Bar Bar Black Sheep in Parktown to get a taste of Boomtown, literally.

Seeing as the event is being “powered” by DSTV youth channel Vuzu once again, we were welcomed by V-Entertainment presenter and rapper Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena.

She then introduced us to Airey Scott co-founder, David Airey, who excitedly let us know what Jack Daniel’s Boomtown party-goers would be in for this year at what has been dubbed “thee optimum lifestyle marquee at Africa’s biggest horse-racing event.”

One of the reason the taste of Boomtown media preview was held in an actual barber shop is because the event organizers will be offering party-goers a barber service and make-up studio on the day.

In addition to that, Airey promised that as part of Boomtown’s 9th consecutive year, there will be various attractions for guest to enjoy, including a Jack Daniel’s Walk of fame. He then refused to give anymore away as Airey Scott is relying on “an element of surprise” to blow their guests away.

Now remember when, earlier in the article, I said we were literally treated to a taste of Boomtown? Well, that’s because there will be a huge focus on catering this year.

Come Saturday 1 July 2017, Boomtown guests will be treated to an all Americano/ Tennessee themed menu which is important considering the fact that they will literally be there all day as this year’s event has been extended by two hours and will now end at midnight.

Those 13 hours will be filled by an epic line-up featuring the likes of Mafikizolo who will be returning for their third consecutive year as well as the country’s hip-hop favourites Cassper Nyovest, AKA, Nasty C, Riky Rick and DJ sensation MVD (Milkshake, Vigi and Dimplez).

They will be joined by Black Motion, DJ Shimza, DJ fresh, Shekinah, Sketchy Bongo, DJ Capital and Glen Lewis among many others.
