Bonang Matheba is changing the South Africa entertainment industry without even trying.
The superstar is on radio, TV, magazines, billboards, and just about anywhere else you can think of. Oh, did I mention that she dominates every single red carpet event she attends? Even when she travelled to Glasgow, Scotland, with ZAlebs for the European Music Awards, she was holding her own on the red carpet.
And, to prove that all eyes on her right now, the South African media darling has been featured in the February/March issue of Forbes Woman Africa's "ones to watch" list, where she talks about her global plans for 2015. She really is the queen of everything in Mzansi, and I have 11 reasons to prove exactly why!
1. Red carpet queen
I always get excited about red carpet events because it means I'll get to see what Bonang will put together. She always gets it right, never tries too hard and always leaves us talking. Her Metro FM Music Awards dress was the one. We were even talking about it the next day!
2. That acting stint on Isidingo
Guys, is there anything Bonang cannot do? Just a few days ago she made an appearance on SABC 3 soapie Isidingo. Although this was just a once-off gig, she sure brought her A game. Err... can we please have more of Queen B's acting? Thanks!
3. Bonang for Distraction
Her lingerie line seems to be doing well. She launched it last year and already has loyal customers. Hmmm... I wonder what business she'll be venturing into next.
4. Nice life problems
Miss Matheba had a lot of us jealous after buying herself a brand new Mercedes Benz for Valentine's Day. She shared a snap of her 'baby' on Instagram and the caption included, "single girl problems." It must be very nice, hey.
5. Queen of the airwaves
She has a show on a national radio station. Metro FM has more than six million listeners. Need I say more?
6. Living that Ciroc life
Queen B is one of the ambassadors for Ciroc Africa. Now you know.
7. Face of Revlon
She's the first South African ambassador for the international beauty brand. She joined A-list stars like Halle Berry and Emma Stone. #Levels
8. What? A selfie with Mama Tina Knowles?
She basically shut things down when she shared a picture of herself with Beyonce's mother. I won't lie, I was a bit jealous.
9. TV presenting on fleek
There are so many aspiring TV presenters who look up to Bonang. Oh, and there are others in the industry who've also tried to imitate her. If that's not star power I don't know what is.
10. Cover girl
I don't know how many covers Bonang has been on. Can we keep up? It doesn't matter, as long as she keeps using her influence to break barriers. The star made history last year when she became the first black person to appear on the cover of SA Glamour magazine.
11. Did someone say model?
Just another one of B's many talents. She makes it look like it ain't nothing.
She's done and achieved way too many things to mention. These are just some of my faves.
