Bongi and Vincent fight for Idols crown

In the English Premier League, they have a saying (Or rather a phrase) that they use to describe the business end of the season: "Squeaky Bum Time". The 10th season of SA Idols has most certainly reached the point of Squeaky Bum Time and the tension on last night's episode was testament to this.

We began the night by bidding our farewells to Cape Town's Lize Mynhardt, who can be proud of her consistent efforts on the show. This meant that the top two for this year's edition of SA Idols would be Bongi Silinda and Vincent Bones. The pair have been praised throughout this season and it's no surprise to see them in the top two.

Both singers performed three songs last night; Their audition track, their best song (As chosen by the judges) as well as their respective would-be singles should they win SA Idols this year.

Bongi was the first to step up to the plate and she sang her audition song (Destiny's Child's Stand Up For Love) and followed it up with what the judges thought was her best song from the competition, Mary J Blige's A Night to Remember

“That was very well done, I don’t think you have anything to worry about,” said an impressed Gareth Cliff. The Idols judge and radio DJ added, “People love you Bongi, and you deserve their love.”

She rounded off an excellent evening by performing her new single, written just for her, called If I Ain't Got You

Vincent will have been feeling the heat already and Bongi's strong performances won't have made his task any easier. The 30 year old from Pietermaritzburg responded with aplomb as his Lose Yourself/Skyfall mashup. He followed it up with a resounding rendition of Ringo Madlingozi's Sondela. I also really enjoyed his original song, which was titled Let Me Love. Unathi agreed with me when she said that the song was, "The perfect song for you, perfect delivery".

Both stars have given their utmost in order to win your votes, and with another record breaking finale on the cards it is going to be closer than ever. The question is, however, which of the two singers has done enough to win your votes?

Keep an eye on ZAlebs as we make our predictions this week.
