Every year, the local entertainment scene makes its way to one of the most exciting events in the country – the Vodacom Durban July. And, while some people go there for the horses (because that’s what it’s about, really), our celebs see it as another opportunity to dress up and live their best lives. We don’t blame them.

Some of our favourite stars including Pearl Thusi, Lerato Kganyago, Minnie Dlamini, DJ Zinhle Nomuzi Mabena and others have already landed in South Africa’s playground. As you know, there are a lot of parties around the Durban July and this weekend is no different. We’ve seen videos from several stars enjoying themselves at some of Durban’s finest venues.

Now, of course, the question on everyone’s mind is: who will rock the best outfit? This year’s theme is “It Is Time”. Hmmm… Is it just us or does this seem like a tough one?

Speaking about the theme earlier this year, Ken Tweddell, Gold Circle’s Event Marketing Manager explained: “Every element of the race day has the aspect of time attached to it. From time used to select the right stallion for the perfect mare, to the preparation of the yearling for the sales.”

He continued: “From the time of the two-year-old’s first race, to competing as a seasoned contender in the ultimate race – the Vodacom Durban July, it is years of time focused on a race that lasts just over two minutes.”

Looking at this year’s theme, we can only imagine how our faves will interpret it. Who will pull it off? Well, we’ll have a few hours to guess.

Meanwhile, others are waking up to such beautiful views of the ocean, kum'nandi mos.
