Celebs React To Busi Lurayi's Death

A string of tributes and expressions of grief have been poured out by South African celebrities following the sudden passing of prolific actress Busi Lurayi.

Busi was a force to be reckoned with in the industry and her career spans over 16 years. Her enthralling performances captivated viewers, and she knew how to light up the small screen with her talent.

The actress starred in numerous TV productions including Ses'Top LaSokhulu and Partners, Generations, and How to Ruin Christmas. Her passing has sent shockwaves across the country and a number of celebrities who worked with her are devastated.

In the wake of Busi's death, TV actress Thando Thabethe posted a heartbreaking message on social media.
Thembisa Liyema Nxumalo tweeted "Busi was so damn giving, on and off set. She was one of a kind. Rest with the angels in the stage in the sky, Lu. #RIPBusiLurayi."
Lusanda Mbane wrote "Farewell Busi. I am just honoured to have experienced you. An amazing thespian, an amazing human. #RIPBusiLurayi."

Thula Sindi wrote "Eish Busi. So full of life. So full of talent
So full of joy. I remember for these SAFTAs we joked about this not being a dress one can nor should lose in. She joked "Ke tlo winner'ah chommie!" & you did . #RIPBusiLurayi  So glad the world got to experience your talent."

Mandla N paid tribute to her and said he will forever be grateful for her fierce spirit and infectious smile. "I never expected to be writing this, especially for you Busi. We created magic together for many years, I’ll forever be grateful to you for the lessons. Your passion for the craft, your fierce spirit and your infectious smile will be dearly missed. Thank you for sharing your gift with us, the industry has truly lost a giant. Rest in power my friend #Gundiforlife."

According to her family, the SAFTA award-winning actor died on Sunday at her residence β€œWe are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi," read the statement.

"Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday by medical personnel. The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report.

"We humbly request that you allow us as family to come to terms with this tragic news. We thank you for your support that has been given so far and will provide further information as soon as it has been made available," the statement continued.
