Social media reacts to news of Chance the Rapper at #CastleLiteUnlocks

Last night, Castle Lite treated us to an experience like no other as they announced the much-anticipated news of who this year’s line up (both local and international) would be.

We were invited to witness the announcement at Shine Studios in Johannesburg and nothing could have prepared us for what the brand had in store. They literally hid the information behind an actual wall of ice! Talk about extra cold.

The festivities were led by MC’s DJ Warras & Bontle Modiselle who narrated everything as Castle Lite took the announcement to the next level by engaging with audiences both online on Facebook and offline at the event in a 3 part production. Yes, a production, Castle Lite is quite fond of those lately....

Chainsaws, flamethrowers and even ice picks were used to break through the Extra Cold cube to reveal a line up featuring Shane Eagle, Nadia Nakai, Frank Casino and Lil’ Chano from 79th - Chance the Rapper.

The rapper & social activist will be spending the latter part of his birth month and our freedom month with us and it is bound to be memorable.

“Castle Lite is known for making the impossible possible, and this time we had to involve something that was completely unexpected – an ice production like no other. As we celebrate artists that have pushed boundaries by going independent in their music delivery, who better than Chance the Rapper to be unlocked in 2018? He as the leader of the independent school, together with Shane Eagle, Nadia Nakai and Frank Casino will grace the Extra Cold stage in April and we can’t wait to share this experience with our audiences!” said Castle Lite Brand Manager, Becky Opdyke, in a statement.

Chance is perhaps the most polarizing act in the history of the #CastleLiteUnlocks experiences as there is a clear divide between people who are excited to see him and those that are disappointed about it not being one of the other acts they had assumed it would be.
