Pitso Mosimane’s football career
Before he became the world-famous coach that he is today, Pitso Mosimane began his career as a football player at a young age.
The former midfielder began his career at Hungry Lions FC and then launched his senior football career in 1982 at Jomo Cosmos. He also played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in South Africa before he moved to Greece where he played for Ionikos club. He also played for the Belgian club- KFC Rita Berlaar and the Qatari club- Al Sadd.
Throughout his career as a player which lasted for a little over a year, Pitso appeared in over 100 matches and scored around 50 goals.
Pitso Mosimane’s coaching career
Mosimane began his coaching career as an assistant coach to the under-11 players at the Belgian club KFC Rita Berlaar before moving back to South Africa.
Supersport United
He joined Supersport United FC as an assistant coach and then became promoted to head coach between 2001 and 2007. He finished second in the Premier Soccer League during the 2001-02 and the 2002-03 seasons.
Bafana Bafana
Pitso Mosimane then became the caretaker coach of Bafana Bafana in 2007 for seven games before the appointment of Carlos Alberto Parreira as the head coach.
Mosimane served as the assistant coach of Bafana Bafana during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 Fifa world cup.
He was named the head coach of the South African national team on the 15th of July 2010 and was awarded a four-year contract. He left Bafana Bafana in 2012.

Mamelodi Sundowns
Pitso Mosimane became the manager of Mamelodi Sundowns FC in 2012 and remained in the club until 2020.
