The actress and philanthropist has devoted herself to empowering and uplifting young people to reach their full potential by achieving their dreams of graduating from their respective tertiary institutions. They will be donating the amount of R1 million towards the qualifying youth, who wish to pursue university but cannot afford the fees or those who have outstanding fees.

Their initiative started at the beginning of 2020 where they assisted 70 students with R500 000. In February, Nomzamo announced those who made the cut in a special brunch held in Durban.

As her Christmas gift to the youth, they are willing to assist with a further R1 million.

"At the beginning of the year we gave away over R500 000 worth of bursaries to 70 deserving young people across the country. It’s my honour to announce that @hollywoodbets has trusted my @nomzamo_lighthouse foundation once again with a sponsorship of a further R1 MILLION for us to award South African youth who wish to pursue their tertiary education or who have outstanding fees! From my heart to yours, here’s my Christmas gift to you. To APPLY, find the LINK IN MY BIO and follow the steps! Good luck. I’m rooting for you!" her post reads.

Her foundation also donated R1.5 million towards the Covid-19 relief scheme at the beginning of lockdown. The human rights activist said the funds will be donated to various NGOs, NPOs and impoverished households.

The beauty also added that some of the funds will be donated towards the Nelson Mandela Foundation which is currently running the Each One Feed One campaign.

Taking to Instagram a few months back, Nomzamo revealed the reason behind her wanting to assist young people in university. She said there are so many students she used to hear of while she was at Varsity whose parents were able to afford at the beginning of the year, but would later face financial challenges.

"Their parents were retrenched, so they ended up homeless or end up squatting, so, We are here to say we want to be a solution to whatever bailout fund you may need,” she said.
