A video of a man getting mugged circulated all over social media but what caught many people's attention was the fact that the masked man has a familiar face. He looks like gospel musician Dr Tumi and to our surprise, it is him.

Fans and supporters of gospel star Dr Tumi were shocked to see a video of the star getting mugged at Tshili’s Midrand area on Tuesday, February 23. Various Twitter accounts posted the video which was taken from a CCTV camera and people flooded the comments section, others with deep concerns whilst many were taking the situation lightly.

Many people joked about the mugging by quoting one of his popular songs, "wafika wafika kuye" which means 'he has arrived.'

The video shows the doctor dressed in a black suit and talking on the phone, then two men passed him with one approaching him directly and then snatching his phone. The man then gets inside a white car, which jets off leaving a startled Dr Tumi.

Here are some of the reactions:

"The comments on that video of Dr Tumi being mugged are not kind, some of you won't see the gate of heaven bo "wafika wafika kuye", "hlwips" I'm deadass laughing.

"I'll tell you something, it's now necessary to own a gun in SA…

" I didn’t know cellphone mugging/robbery was still happening. I thought everyone has a phone in this era and don’t buy stolen phones.

"Phone can be replaceable, unfortunately for his information and contacts.

The star confirmed the incident and said he opened a case of theft at a Midrand police station.

On Twitter he thanked fans who were concerned about him and those who wished him well. "Good evening fam. Trust you have been well. Thank you all for your kind messages. Sending mega love to you."

Just a few weeks ago, the gospel star announced the sad passing of his father, Pastor MD Makweya.

"Hi Fam. So sad to announce about the passing of my dear dad. He was such a beautiful gift to our family and the body of Christ. So humbled and honoured for the years God blessed me with him in my life. It was such a great honour to be called his son. One of the greatest gift was him raising me to know Christ and showing me the unfailing love of a father. This is such a great loss in my life and our family. I will deeply and greatly miss him. " said Dr Tumi on Facebook.
