Season 3 debuts on Monday 18 July 2022 and will remain in the timeslot of 19:00, Mondays to Fridays.
The Estate is a game-changing gripping premium daily drama that probes the hot topical issues on every South African’s lip: Land and Identity, Corruption, Patronage, Money (old and new), Power, Class, and Equality, all told through a colourful mix of South African families who live in the luxury Echelon Estate, and the neighbouring community in Thembalethu township.
This season the show featured a new family in town, the Nobengela Family. Dumisani Mbebe joins the cast of The Estate as Melisizwe, the patriarch in the Nobengela household. He is a businessman and political fixer associated with Castro Kamanga. Lerato Mvelase plays Melisiwe’s wife, Noxolo, an interior design business owner. Melisiwe and Noxolo relocate to Johannesburg with their children, Gcinekile (Samke Makhoba), Vukani (Siya Xaba) and Mzolisi (Anga Makubalo).
Season 3 will see Castro Kamanga, played by Aubrey Poo, continuing with his political career as the premier of the province, with his good friend, the political fixer, Melisiwe by his side when he faces the growing protests by the Thembalethu Land Association outside the Echelon gates, leaving Mmakwena facing a dangerous situation. Will Jo succeed in dispersing the crowd?
Actor Moopi Mothibeli joins the show as Mohau Kabi a smart, Bachelor of Science in Engineering student. Lucia Cooper returns as Jo, Jo-Anne Reyneke as Lwandle, Dineo Langa as Mmakwena, Matli Mohapeloa as Lesiba, Mpho Sibeko as Dumisani, Zenokuhle Maseko as Sindi, Jacques Blignaut as Martin, Sparky Xulu as Siya, Clementine Mosimane as Mmatshepo and Carla Claasen as Tessa.
Lwandle is burdened by her late husband’s misdeeds as she is left with debt. The drama intensifies when Lesiba finds out about his wife’s betrayal.
“The Estate is key to the incremental building of the S3 schedule with well-produced relevant local drama. The new season does not hold back as we stare into the dramatic issues that plague the nation”. - S3 Channel Head, Pat van Heerden.

When I think of all the characters that I've played, what makes Nomusa different is that within her weakness, we see so much strength. I've played characters who are strong, overtly strong. And then here Nomusa is: this woman who people might look at and be like, ‘I have no confidence in her.’
She continued: We know she's not a gangster. She's not going to be stabbing anyone in the jail cell. She's probably not going to be fighting anybody. She doesn't want trouble. She just wants to be here, to serve the sentence she needs to serve.
It’s just unfortunate that she's now exposed to the dynamics of a jail cell. There's no peace. You wake up and someone wants to stab you. What are you going to do when you've never stabbed anyone? When you’ve never had to confront people violently or aggressively and now you're faced with that?
