The character of Fikile - played by Phindile Gwala, returns to the story of Imbewu and she is taking no prisoners. Fikile returns Thursday 27 November at 9PM on e.tv.

Let’s pick it up from where we left off. Fikile dated Nkululeko (now played by Kay Sibiya) and her mother Nompi (Zandi Nhlapo) revealed the uncomfortable truth- the man she’d been dating all along was her half-brother. The last time we saw Fikile on screen, audiences believed she was dead.

Fast forward to today, Fikile comes back and becomes the new owner of Emsamo. We soon learn that her return is part of a sinister plot that she’s been cooking up with an old foe – Khemisi (Thabiso Lekoba), MaNdlovu’s cynical brother.

The actress was apparently axed from the show in 2021. According to City Press the actress has been failing to deliver on her acting skills hence producers of the show decided to give her marching orders.

“Phindile’s on-screen character was being struck off because of her craft competence. The producers have it that her talent is not what the showrunners expected out of her. However, it was revealed that the new producers were not very impressed, so they did not want to keep her," said a source.

Speaking to  Daily Sun Imbewu’s publicist, Eugene Cele slammed the fake reports.

“The reports are false. She left to pursue other career interests.”

“There is no bad blood between us, just grown, and we wish her well with her future endeavours,” said Eugene.

Actress Lusanda Mbane recently announced her departure form the show. She revealed the sad news in a Facebook post.

“So this was Makhosazana’s last scene on Imbewu, after which I packed up from Durban and came back home. No one knows if Makhosazana is dead or not, but we leave it there. Let the universe and time decide,” she said.

The actress said she is not disappearing from the small screens as she has hinted at exploring her next character. "In the meantime, I get to explore my next character, which is not yet confirmed. I also get to be fully present for my husband and kids. So yes, it’s a wrap,” she wrote.
