Designer to the stars and some of SA's most glamourous, Gert-Johan Coetzee, has been working tirelessly on a collection that commemorates the golden 50th anniversary of the iconic Big Mac burger with an exciting and sassy Big Mac Fashion line.
Inspired by the ‘club culture’ trend which is currently taking over the high fashion streets across the country, the full collection was first shown to a select group of media about a week ago as well as fashion's elite at the 2018 spring/summer South African fashion week showcase.
Gert-Johan Coetzee is world famous for working with celebrities and big brands such as Kourtney Kardashian, Kelly Rowland and Bonang Matheba.
“The Big Mac® is such an iconic product around the world, and I am very excited to be adding my explosion of pop-culture inspired streetwear to a glamorous collection that I believe will come as a great surprise to everyone," said Coetzee in a statement.
Both Coetzee and Mbatha stunned at last night's showcase during the third day of SA fashion week after she topped off an adorable collection with an exquisite ball gown.
“Celebrating the 50th anniversary of our Big Mac – an iconic sandwich in South Africa and across the world - meant we had to do something extraordinary to honour this huge milestone. The collaboration
with the designer extraordinaire Gert-Johan Coetzee was exactly the exciting edge for us. The fashion line is a celebration of the people that enjoy this iconic burger and the pop culture that McDonald’s, as a brand is a big part of,” said McDonald’s SA Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Daniel Padiachy, in a statement.
McDonald’s SA has also vowed to donate all proceeds from the Big Mac® 50th Fashion Collection to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC). RMHC South Africa provides a safe home, comfort and care to families of sick children receiving specialised treatment in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and the Nelson Mandela Children’s hospital.
