Confirmed: SETE Makes Radio Monitor History

When K.O announced his “comeback” to music, his intention was to reinvigorate Hip-Hop to its previous dominance. At the time, he believed that returning the much anticipated SR3 which was a continuation of his 2017 lauded album SR2 that the album would mark this renaissance back to the “Golden Era of Hip-Hop” locally.

However, all it took was the release of the lead single of the album, SETE, featuring Young Stunna and Blxckie. The song which is the hotly contested Song of the Year anthem for 2023, has just managed to achieve yet another milestone to affirm why it should be given the title of Song of the Year.

K.O Breaks Record With SETE At No.1 For 12 Consecutive Weeks On Airplay Chart

K.O’s ‘SETE’ is the biggest record-breaking track in South Africa! Today, ‘SETE’ has broken the Radio Monitor record by being the first song (local or international) to occupy the number 1 spot for 12 consecutive weeks since the airplay monitoring company’s inception in 2015.
The momentous success of ‘SETE’ saw the single dominate official charts, radio airwaves, and playlists, gaining over 4000 plays on 88 radio stations across South Africa with more than 400 million impressions.
 
K.O is the first South African artist to reach 10 million streams with a single AT record-breaking 2 months. Risa and the official SA Chart marked this huge millstone with a plaque.
 
At the time, the single had just broken the record. A fact which made it seem as if it would be possible for another hit single to break the record as the surprise runaway hit did. However, with its new record, it seems that K.O will be collecting his flowers for years to come
 
A feat which continues to affirm why Mrcashtime is considered a legend. This is as K.O still holds the record for the first Hip-Hop artist in South Africa to have had their music video surpass the one million views mark with the classic hit Caracara

Confirmed: SETE makes Radio Monitor hitstory


Taking to social media, K.O confirmed that SETE had further extended its record as the longest song to hold the number one spot on Radio Monitor by any song, international or local, in South Africa. At the time, the single has achieved holding onto the spot for 14 weeks. 
 
Moreover, the record coincided with the celebrations by SONY Music, which hosted a get together for the musician in light of his celebration of 16 years in the music industry since starting his career as one third of legendary Hip-Hop group, Teargas.
However, K.O further extended the record when he received yet another plaque which confirmed that SETE has further extended its record as it marked its 15th and mostly recently 16th week, as the number one song across all radio stations. A milestone, K.O credited to his fans and might do it again should it mark 17 weeks on Friday, 30 December 2022.
As a result, it might be hard for radio stations like Ukhozi FM to rob K.O of his final milestone as this would mark the first single he released which was played throughout the country when New Years is ushered in.
