ZAlebs Grace Maxhosa At New York Fashion Week

They stepped onto the runway in support of MaXhosa designer wear

Laduma Ngxokolo Laduma Ngxokolo is the new wave of Mzansi creatives doing big things in the country and abroad. The fashion designer has a deep respect for his Xhosa culture and you can see it on his work, he is able to visually translate the Xhosa custom and language in world-class designs.

Laduma won numerous awards both locally and abroad, one of his first, the African Fashion Award for Emerging Designer of the Year in 2014. In 2016 he was also awarded as the Most Stylish Designer Interior or Fashion at the 2016 SA Style Awards. 

He captioned his Instagram post...
"Awarded the 2018 @abryanzstyleandfashionawards Fashion Designer Of The Year Africa honour here in Uganda last night. Much love for all your support. This is [for] all the Motherland designers that are working hard to shift the culture and change their familyโ€™s lives."
He has been revered in Italy, where, in true MaXhosa style he repped Mzansi with his unique knitwear and textile designs. He has worked with some of the most famous celebrities in the world, including Beyoncรฉ featured Laduma's work by taking a snapshot of his creation during her visit at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum In New York City.

His most recent work in New York was at the New York City Fashion Week, where he collaborated with fellow South Africans like Riky Rick, Blue Mbombo, Warren Masemola and Amanda Dambuza.
Amanda Dambuza Tweeted the following caption on her account...

"Let us go ahead and call this the AMANDA dress. Did you see me!!!??. Life of a runway Queen. I had so much fun doing this. Catch it on You Tube on the @maxhosa channel. What a collection!!!! #MaxhosaNYFW #SS2021 #amandadambuza"
The theme of his fashion line was "INGUMANGALISO IMISEBENZI KATHIXO (GODS WORK IS MIRACULOUS) #MaxhosaNYFW" as Tweeted by the veteran Mzansi actor, Warren Masemola.

While Maps Maponyane was also part of the campaign and he Tweeted "Tonight at 8PM! @MaXhosaAfrica showcasing for New York Fashion Week! Details below - Don't miss it!"
Blue Mbombo also modelled the collection and Tweeted gratefully to be part of the campaign.

"So proud to have been part of this historic moment. Thank you @MaXhosaAfrica for allowing us to be part of your journey and making our dreams come true. Congratulations once again for this powerful collection. #MaxhosaNYFW"
