Mandla Maphumulo, better known as Mampintsha was a Kwaito musician and music producer who rose to fame as a member of the Big Nuz musical group which he formed with his two friends- Mzi Tshomela and Sbu Khomo.
Born and raised in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal in 1982, Mampintsha kick-started his career in 2002 but only became successful in 2008 when Big Nuz got signed by Afrotainment and released their album- 2nd Round Knockout.
Throughout his career in the music industry, Mampintsha enjoyed significant success and was able to reap the fruits of his hard work which afforded a life of comfort and luxury.
Here is a look back at the late Mampintsha’s house and cars, as well as the young family he left behind. May his soul rest in peace.
Mampintsha’s house
Mampintsha lived with his wife- Babes Wodumo and son- Sponge Wodumo in their lovely two-storeyed home in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.
There are very few details available about Mampintsha’s house save for a few photos that he shared of himself with his family at home.
In August 2022, Mampintsha shared a short clip on Instagram where he revealed that he and Babes were looking to buy a house in Johannesburg but it’s unclear if they eventually did.

Mampintsha’s cars
Mampintsha reportedly had a thing for big cars and although he rarely ever bragged about his cars and properties online, it is believed that he owned a couple of grand cars including a black SUV Ford as he once shared his photo next to it.
His widow, Babes Wodumo, on the other hand reportedly owns several sleek cars including a 2019 Mercedes Benz V-Class and an Audi S7.
Mampintsha’s wife
Until his untimely death in December 2022, Mampintsha was married to award-winning Gqom musician, dancer and choreographer- Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane.
Babes and Mampintsha first met while working at West Ink Records and they started dating shortly after.
The two got engaged in October 2020 when Mampintsha proposed to Babes during a live radio interview on Gagasi FM. They got married in a colourful traditional wedding in April 2021 in Durban.
Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s relationship was more than just a marriage. The two also worked together professionally and collaborated on a number of projects including their Showmax reality show- Uthando Lodumo.
Like all marriages, Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s marriage had its ups and downs too. From allegations of infidelity and physical abuse to problematic in-laws, the couple lived through it all and their marriage only ended when death did them part.
Mampintsha’s children
Mampintsha’s marriage to Babes Wodumo was blessed with the birth of a son called Sponge Wodumo who was born in June 2021.
Mampintsha was very fond of his wife and son and he often shared cute photos and videos of his family on social media.
