After years of problems and an entire reshoot and re-cast, the first ever local version of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg is set to debut on 1Magic next month.
The Real Housewives is an American media franchise that consists of several reality television series broadcast on U.S network, Bravo and distributed internationally by NBCUniversal International Formats. They have series set in various cities such as New York, Beverly Hills, Potomac, Atlanta and now Johannesburg.
With the latest addition to the franchise, viewers will be invited to take a look into the lives of the glamorous wealthy Johannesburg women who are part of the cast. "The reality series documents the highs and lows of the six fiery affluent characters, as they let Mzansi into their lives - from their luxurious homes to their prestigious family life," explained the channel in a statement.
Meet The Cast:
Evodia Mogase is described as "a warm, talkative, straight talker originally from Soweto. She started off as a teacher, then owned a catering business and is today a vegetation expert."
Joining her on the show is her daughter, Mercy Mogase, who has been described as a health fanatic who studied mechanical engineering and later joined herbal life as an ambassador and motivational speaker.
Spa owner, Brinnette Seopela, has been dubbed as the cast member who is the glue that holds the housewives together and finds her happy ending at the heart of this series. She is also Reneilwe 'Yeye' Letsolonyane's ex-girlfriend.
Former Miss Botswana, 2nd princess, Naledi Willers and second wife to Metro FM's Naked DJ, Quinton Masina will be letting viewers in to her life as a wife and a law student while being the cast member who speaks her mind.
Alongside these interesting ladies on the move is a former lawyer turned businesswoman with ambitions of becoming a superstar, Christall Kay.
Originally from Durban, Christall has walked the runway as a model and bagged a couple of commercials to prepare for a career as a singer. Watch how she balances it all.
Also known as Lendy, Busisiwe Ter Mors is "a keen golfer born in South Africa but raised in England. She is a mother of two with enough time to enjoy the joys of being a housewife, from living an affluent lifestyle to enjoying simple get-togethers hosting her friends and family."
