E.tv is making some serious changes and adding exciting shows to its line-up.
The channel, which launched Ashes to Ashes and Umlilo last month, is now on the verge of launching another new drama. A show called Matiele, which is about a feud between a Xhosa and a Sotho family is premiering on the channel tonight at 9pm.
Former Generations actor Mike "Khaphela" Mvelase will be part of the show. The actor confirmed the news to Sunday World, adding that his role is "less significant". "It is just a small character who won't last long. In fact, I think it will be premature for me to confirm because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to speak to the media yet," he said.
According to the paper, Mike will play a the role of a priest. Matlapulana Ragaosha, e.tv spokesperson, told Sunday World: "The priest is an outsider who is also a mediator in the feud between the two families. He represents sanity and is the voice of reason. He is also the mirror through which the ridiculousness of the feud can be observed..."
The last time I checked, Mike had joined 7de Laan. This was last year. He bagged himself a role as Loyiso, a businessman, on the Afrikaans soapie. After getting the role, he said in an interview: "It's just a soapie, the only difference is that it is focused on an Afrikaans speaking audience."
I wonder how that went. Anyway, well done to Mike who scored another acting gig. It seems as if e.tv is scooping all the talent; they also brought in Dineo Moeketsi for a daily show! Well done to them all!
