Following the announcement that the MTV Base VJ Search is back, comes the news of the confirmed audition venues and dates where hopefuls can rock up and end up one step closer to fame.
The 2018 MTV Base VJ Search is hosted by MTV Base in partnership with Breezer
The #MTVBaseVJSearch winner will receive a 12-month contract while he or she also stands a chance to host MTV Base shows as well as interviewing stars, MC-ing events, attending international awards shows, walking the red carpet, and travelling the continent.
The winner will also fill the role of an ambassador for MTV Base and show the rest of SA how to ‘live life in colour. Previous winners, who have become household names on the South African entertainment scene, include Sizwe Dhlomo, Fikile Moeti, Nomuzi Mabena, Sandile Ntshingila and last year’s winner Tshego Mosupye (aka Tshego Koki).
The next VJ is expected to have a passion for global and African youth culture and music, be authentic and live life in colour.

Auditions will be held at these dates and venues:
- 21 July: Olive Convention Centre, Durban
- 28 July: Castle of Good Hope, DCape Town
- 4 August: East London Golf Club, East London
- 18 August: Zone 6 Venue, Soweto, Johannesburg
Auditions begin at 09:00am and end at 16:00 everyday in each city.
According to MTV Base, “hopefuls wishing to take the opportunity to be part of this exciting campaign need just arrive at the venue and bring their most colourful selves.”
