For those of you who have no idea what Carpool Karaoke is and why it's a big deal, allow me to school you.
The show is a recurring segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden and sees the host drive around the city (usually Los Angeles) on song-filled car rides featuring some of the world's biggest celebrity guests. The show is also a big deal and a content gold mine for entertainment journalists around the world as these celebrity guests often share things about themselves that were not previously known to the public.
Corden has driven around the likes of Madonna, Will Smith, Usher and even Michelle Obama.
Music channel, Channel O, is now applying that formula to their latest show "to bring fans the hottest music lifestyle show on air: The Channel O Top 5 Drive," according to the channel.
"In its 20 years of existence Channel O has built its popularity on solid foundations: a love for music, urban youth culture, celebrity lifestyle, and hot rides," they said in a statement and now, they are using what they have built to fuel this brand new production which aims to take us into the heads of South Africa’s most popular celebrities to find out what their current favourite tunes are.
The show will be hosted by effervescent-personality Denise Zimba and she will be joined by a yummy model named Tino Chinyani.
Chinyani will play driver and co-host in what has been deemed an “exciting taxi pick up of sorts” where he and his co host will give celebrities a “complimentary” Channel O ride, wherein they discuss the person’s favourite music tracks, career highlights and industry news, all in a dose of banter, humour and fun.
During the first few episodes, fans can expect to see stars such as A-Reece, Amanda Black, Da Les, Dr Malinga and various others.
Catch the first season of the Top 5 Drive on Channel O (DStv Channel 320) from Saturday, 16 September at 9:30AM.
