Celebrities That Have Been Brought Up By Single Parents

Looking at our celebrities, it can sometimes come as a shock to many that some if not most of them were actually raised by single parents. And while this may not be the most ideal of situations it is good to see the kind of individuals they have become.

To begin us off is this handsome and quite delightful actor who has on several occasions set our timelines on fire with his great smile and well toned body. 

Time and time again, Cedric has mentioned how special his mom is to him and there is nothing as adorable as a man gushing over his mother. Just the other day, he took to his social media in an appreciation post to pen his mother one heartfelt note. 

Cedric lost his father when he was still very young and has been raised by his mom ever since. They make one cute mother and son duo and we love to see it.

Next up on the list is Mzansi’s favourite rapper who was raised by his dad after his mom died in a gruesome car crash when he was still very young. His dad, David Maviyo Ngcobo, works as a human resource manager. 

Since Nasty C’s career started quite early, his dad was not that very accommodating of the idea and in fact wanted him to choose a different career path. That changed of course over the years and he is now one of his son’s number one fans. 

The young rapper has dedicated quite a number of songs to his late mother and it is good to know that even though they did not have much time together, that he still adores her as his mother and it is a beautiful sight to see.

This television actress has been a favourite for many as she is always keeping us glued to our screens with her dope acting skills. After her father committed suicide when she was only 13, Thando was raised by her mom and the two are honestly quite the adorable pair. 

It was not that long ago when the actress won hearts after she bought her mom a whole house and a car as well! Now this is what we like to see, our fave celebrities gifting their parents in the most lavish and sweetest of ways. 

Her mom is one of her biggest fans and is only showing up to support her wherever and whenever she can. Looking at Thando, one might never imagine the kind of pain she had to endure after losing her father. 

But to also see how great she turned out to be we can only be grateful to her mom for raising her into the queen that she is today. We love you mama

Lastly, we have DJ Black Coffee who boasts of being the richest DJ in Africa. Faith Dandala, his mother, separated from her husband who was reportedly an alcoholic and an abuser. That was when he relocated to Umtata in the Eastern Cape when he was 12 years old.

And just like Thando, Black Coffee also gifted his mom with a brand new Mercedes Benz that had us reaching for the tissues. After everything they had to endure as a family, it was so sweet to see him bless his mom and bring tears of joy to her eyes. 

And to think that we only loved him for his great music. Well done Coffee!

It is so good to see that being raised by single parents did not render them outcasts as it would have in other communities. Instead they turned out to be great individuals and even greater parents. Their stories just go to show that your past does not have to define who you are. Instead, each of us is in charge of our own destinies.
