Power Up!
With today being International Women’s Day, we celebrate the powerful women who came before us. We know that the concept of a “powerful” women can often be misinterpreted as bitchy, over confident or rude but who cares? Well behaved women have never changed the world.

Being a woman set out to leave her mark on the world is not easy. it’s almost as if you need a suit of armor to make it through the day. We can’t recommend chainmail in the office but try a power suit to get you in the right mindset for those challenges you face while building your career.

Here are a few tips from your favourite stars on how to put together a powerful power suit…

Pin Stripes
This menswear staple is definitely gender neutral now. The pin striped suit is a go to for any boardroom or board function where you need to assert your power. Make sure to opt for either the black or navy with white pin stripes like Queen B* herself.

Monochrome
The presenter is known for her love affair with power suits. Lerato Kganyago has worn them for everything from brunch at the mall to her DJ gigs which just proves their versatility. She gets it right each time because she understands how good a bright monochrome suit looks on everyone. Try looking for a red one, its a major trend, or a bright blue like this one.

Embellished
The suit is not just for the boardroom, dress it up and it could be the perfect look for a gala event or even a friend’s wedding. There is a wide variety of ways to go about this, to be fair “embellishments” is a wide term. It can be anything from sequins, applique’s or print. But when you do go shopping for it, go for ones with decorative details around the sleeve cuffs, lapels and the bottom of the blazer. This one on Pearl Modiadie is like the perfect example.

Print

Tired of the usual work suit and want to have more fun with it? Go for print. There’s just so many options and a new print is introduced to the trend cycle each season. You’ll never run out of options for your lunch dates if you stock enough. Go floral like Dineo or something a bit more graphic like Boity when they met up.
