As hopefuls make their way across the country to audition for a chance to join the SABC 3 family, we figured we’d bring them a little info to provide them with the upper hand.
Presenter Search on 3 spring-boarded the careers of the previous winners such as Jonathan Boynton-Lee, Zoë Brown, Danilo Acquisto and Jade Hübner and the late Simba Mhere – all of whom became household names.
The PE audition dates have passed and upcoming audition dates include:
- Cape Town on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of April at the Newlands Rugby Stadium
- Durban on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of April at the Durban Exhibition Centre
- Johannesburg on Friday the 20th, Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of April at Wanderers Cricket Stadium

To enter, entrants must simply arrive at the audition venues on the date of the audition and fill out an entry form which will be available at the registration desk.
In addition to the 15 second audition/self-introduction entrants must prepare for the judges, here is what else they can do to impress:

“The kind of people I want to audition are savvy, thinkers and ambitious and who really want to focus on this as a career and not just as an easy road to being famous. You really need something special and I’m looking for a little bit of magic,” said Jeannie D, while Sbusiso Kumalo added, “to be a presenter is more than just how you carry yourself on TV. It’s everything else – how you manage your finances, how you grow your social media following, how you carry your brand on and off the screen. Being a presenter asks a lot more of the people who are coming to enter this competition.”
One of SA’s most prolific TV producers and #PresenterSearchOn3 judges, Patience Stevens said, “as a judge, what I am looking for in a top TV presenter is someone with charm, charisma and the ability to command someone’s attention so that when they walk into the room, they have an immediate presence and everybody knows that this is a powerful personality.”
Lastly, The Big Dawg, DJ Fresh added “if TV is what you love then this is the perfect place to start. It might be a little bit of a deep end for some but that’s the best time to learn how to swim. Join us at this year’s auditions. The stage is yours.”
The new season of Presenter Search on 3 premieres on Thursday 10 May at 19:30 on SABC3.
