Sadly, ProVerb lost his mother in 2018.

ProVerb Education
In 2008 he obtained a Certificate in Sound Engineering from the Academy of Sound Engineering.
He then did a short course on Property Development and Investment at the University of Cape Town. He obtained his certificate in 2019.
ProVerb Relationship
However, the relationship did not last as ProVerb confirmed that Onalerona cheated on him with a Johannesburg businessman called Edwin Sodi.
ProVerb and Onalerona settled for a divorce in 2015 after 10 years of marriage.
He was also involved in a romantic affair in 2015 with model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa in 2015, Liesl Laurie.
For the longest time, ProVerb & Liesl Laurie were one of Mzansi’s favourite celebrity couples. The lovers were together for several years and during the course of their relationship, they served relationship goals, from international vacations to loved-up snaps on the internet, their journey was beautiful to watch.
Unfortunately, ProVerb and Liesl ended their relationship in 2018 because they did not see ‘eye to eye’.
Speaking to Sunday Sun at the time, Liesl is the one who confirmed that the relationship was over. She said,
“Yes, it’s true, but please don’t write this.”
ProVerb Career
He has been in the game since 1999 and established himself as a veteran rapper. He is popularly known for the role he has as the host of Idols SA.
In 2005, he released his debut album titled “Book Of Proverb” under Outrageous Records.
ProVerb continued with his journey as one of the giant rappers on the continent and was rated one of the best MC’s in the country.
Getting the hang of rapping in his style, he released the album Write of Passage in 2009 and Fourthwrite in 2012.
In 2013, ProVerb featured on Khaya Mthethwa’s song ‘Lil Means A Lot’. The two worked together on the song that received raving reviews from the fans. This song came after Khaya Mthethwa had won the Idols SA competition in 2012.
ProVerb then went on to release ‘Hey There Lil Momma’ and ‘Plaquemine Where You At’ in 2014. The rapper did not stop there and he released ‘It’s over Now’ and ‘Kings Of The Jungle’ the following year.
He worked on the slot Avenue 3 to 6 with Glen Lewis and Unathi. ProVerb had a show with Metro FM, The Pro-File, which took place on Saturdays and Sundays.
ProVerb is also a radio host of Kaya FM’s Top 40 and currently a host of a Khaya FM show called The Winner’s Circle.
He continued working with Liezel but from 2011, he continued as a single host and has been working with the likes of Unathi, and Somizi Mhlongo.

ProVerb Controversy
ProVerb was accused of stealing an idea from someone in 2018. A girl on Facebook by the name of Mmami Masobe e-mailed ProVerb about an idea she had in mind for a celebrity TV show she’d like to pitch.
ProVerb acknowledged the e-mail and responded accordingly. Later, the woman saw ProVerb tweet about a competition he was a part of.
The woman felt that the competition tweeted by ProVerb was similar to the initial idea she had pitched to them and decided to reach out to him via D.M.
