We have been closely following Kgosi and Gloria’s storyline on etv’s flagship soapie, Scandal!. It has been quite interesting to watch the dynamics between mother and child, especially after Kgosi brought about a wave of embarrassment to her mother, Gloria. The writers of Scandal! Have cleverly incorporated Kgosi’s storyline with the buzz around real matric students in Mzansi currently.

The audience has come to know Gloria as an over the top character – one who always aims for the best. Therefore, when she found out that her son had failed grade 12, her world came crumbling down.
However, on the other end, it is important to have alternative perceptions regarding Gloria’s reaction (that of a typical disappointed parent).

Television is a very powerful and impactful medium. Most youngsters literally take heed of the motion images that they watch on TV, especially those that they find resonance with.
Kgosi’s storyline is a representation of what numerous matriculants are currently going through in the real world. Also, parents might need to take notes from Gloria as they try to support their children who might have also failed.
