Just weeks after returning back to set, The River has had to shut down production after a crew member tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement, Tshedza Pictures the production house behind the popular show confirmed that they have halted shooting and call cast and crew have been asked to self-isolate while the necessary health protocols are being implemented.

Phatu Makwarela in a statement said; Ever since we resumed production on 1 May 2020, all the necessary lockdown health guidelines were implemented on set. "After we received the news of the colleague testing positive, we immediately asked the cast and crew that came into contact with the member to go into self-isolation. They will soon avail themselves to health authorities for testing, in line with government directives."

The River along with a few other Mzansi productions went on production breaks due to the level 5 national lockdown regulations. This resulted in some shows going off-air due to running out of episodes to air.
