While the likes of Zandi Nhlapo, Claire Mawisa and Bassie Khumalo haven’t really gone anywhere, they paved the way for a lot of today’s most popular and successful entertainers. Some have intentionally and unintentionally followed in their footsteps.
Zandi Nhlapo - Lerato Kganyago
The former SABC 1 continuity presenter seemingly scandal-less career and highly publicized break up from Bob Mabena kind of remind us of Lerato Kganyago. Despite all this, both ladies have managed to keep it about the work.
Claire Mawisa - Pearl Modiadie
While you may have thought of four different starlets that might be dubbed the modern day Claire Mawisa, the only natural fit is Pearl Modiadie.
Each lady is gorgeous, humble and easy to love, so we can only hope that Modiadie will enjoy the same longevity as Mawisa (both with her beauty and her career).
Basetsana Khumalo - Bonang Matheba
This comparison is B’s end goal in life - to enjoy the same level of success as Khumalo. She is no doubt a shoe-in for the millennial version of Khumalo.
Queen Iyaya - Chomee
Trust us when we say we tried to tackle this one differently but no one has managed to strike that Iyaya-esque balance between singing and dancing quite like Chomee has.
She even took it a step further by not only taking Iyaya’s place in 999 but in Arthur’s life as well. Yikes!
Lebo Mathosa and Brenda Fassie - Babes Wodumo
If Mathosa and Fassie had a baby (which we wish they did), her name would be Bongekile Simelane aka uBabes, uBabes, uBabes, uBabes, uBabes Wodumo!
Don’t think of the young performer as the 2016 version of the two musicians, rather the product of what the two paved the way for.
