Tweeps are not jumping for joy for the drama category nominees

The 14th annual Feather Awards may be off to a bad start as tweeps are certainly not jumping for at the drama category nominees. Although the nominees are very much controversial on social media. However, tweeps feel as though this award ceremony is losing its meaning for honoring 'abusers and transphobes'

The outraged tweeps have taken to Twitter to voice some of their grievances following the feather awards nominees list released to the public. The drama category has really upset a number of people with the people put up to possibly win in this category.

"These are personalities we read about every Sunday over breakfast, their lives revolve around a lot of dramatic behaviour or situation. And the 2022 “Drama Queen of the Year” nominees are: #Feathers14 #UnFvckenApologetic" wrote Feather Awards
Tweeps have called this award ceremony distasteful amongst other names with some of the nominees within their categories, especially, the drama category nominees.

Known for her controversy on Twitter, the University of Cape Town Vice Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng have had commentary in past around the trangender community. Tweeps are very much offended for a Queer award ceremony honoring considering someone who they have coined a transphobe.

"Drama should be fun & light. Platforming a known transphobe in an award show that is supposed to be a safe space for the Queer community is really harmful. So what if Prof Phakeng decides to honor the invite? are trans people expected to be comfortable with her in there?" wrote Nampree
Tweeps have called the whole Feather Award ceremony shameless and a mockery to their Queer community. While tweeps have also inserted that actor Sthembiso 'SK' Khoza is a 'known abuser' yet in the flip side of the coin he is being celebrated at an award ceremony that should be a safe space for the marginalized group of people.

The 14th annual feather awards will be taking place at The Market Theatre on 10th November, 2022.
