Fans of Thandiswa need not wait any longer, the singer has announced that she'll be dropping her Jazz album titled Belede on the 25th of November under her new record label - Universal Music.
In a recent press conference held at Universal Music in Rosebank, Thandiswa who surprised many of her fans and critics when she announced that she was working on a Jazz album earlier on in the year, explained to the media filled room why she had decided to release an album of this genre.
Belede, a jazz tribute album named after Thandiswa’s late mother, is her third album and her first studio album in seven years. “Making this album was a sonic delight and I feel blessed to have been able to sing some of these songs and pay tribute to some of the most rebellious and monumental musicians of my time.”
"You don't just do Jazz, you have to do that right kind of Jazz and it was scary for me to do that but I have to do that otherwise I'm just going to get really bored."
The singer also explained that in her new album she'll be paying tribute to South African musical greats such as the likes of Caiphus Semenya, Busi Mhlongo, Miriam Makeba and more.

She was then asked why she had decided to pay tribute to such artists in her first ever Jazz album, Thandiswa attributed her reasoning behind the tributes to her goal of enlightening the youth's knowledge about such musicians who have ultimately paved the way for many of today's artists.
"I think for young people, these names are not necessarily at the tip of their tongues and the other thing is that I have a lot of friends who are Hip Hop producers, so I was like I'm just going to make something for you guys to sample, you guys need samples right? and I have samples for you."
The announcement of her release date was met with great excitement from her fans who have been waiting patiently for the album to drop.
