The Top 10 songs of the year
As 2018 comes to a close, one thing we can definitely appreciate about this year is all the great music that has come from our local artists.

Honestly,  a top 10 list is not enough as there were far too many songs that really had us sweating on the dance floor. However, here’s a list of our personal favourites from the year.

Prince Kaybee’s – Club Controller

Released earlier thuis year, Club Controller was just one of those songs you that you just could not ignore. Even the late HHP had to jump on the track and do the greatest freestyle we’ve heard in a while.

Club Controller was such a success that it even won Song Of The Year at the DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Sun El Musician – Ntaba Ezikude

Firstly, Sun El’s entire debut album was a master piece, probably one of the best locally produced albums of the year, in our opinion. There were far too many hit songs to choose from, but this particular single really holds a special place in our December playlist.

DJ Maphorisa – iWalk Ye Phara

When the beat drops, one can’t stop but start walking in a stylish way. If you’re found sitting down while this song is playing, then clearly uyaloya shame.

Also, you know a song is a hit when everyone creates meme videos of this song.

Dadla Mshunqisi – Mzimba Onemali

If we’re being completely honest with ourselves, every Dladla Mshunqisi song is a Summer hit, but at this point, this song has become our favourite from the Afrotainment entertainer.

Anatii – Thixo Onefefe

Have you ever experienced Anatii perform this song live? If so, then you’d know why Thixo Onefefe has made it onto this list. What an amazing song.

Mlindo ft. Kwesta and Thabsie – Amacala

You can never go wrong with Kwesta and Thabsie on a track and considering that Mlindo is a new artist in the game, he definitely owned 2018 with this banger.

King Monada – Malwdhe

Love it or hate it, this song took the country by storm and we were never ready. Everywhere you turn, people are fainting for no reason, thanks to King Monada.

AKA Fela in Versace

A fave amongst many who are Supa Mega’s fans, Fela in Versace was definitely one of those songs that were on high rotation in clubs and on many radio stations.

DJ Sumbody ft. Cassper Nyovest, Thebe & Vettis – Monate Mpolaye

Busiswa ft. DJ Maphorisa – Bazoyenza

This picture is exactly how we get on the dance floor whenever Bazoyenza comes on. We also appreciate Banomoya by Prince Kaybee, featuring Busiswa.

Did we get this list right? Which other songs would you have preferred to be on the list?
