SAFTA award winning actor Tsholofelo Matshaba burst into the entertainment scene in 2007 on the SABC 2 soapie, Muvhango, and she has since been regarded as one of the most phenomenal performers in the industry.
Her latest role as Rakgadi on 1Magic’s The River has proven this and she is now a fan favourite on the show. Since her career began she has given us nothing but timeless characters on many local hit show including Skeem Saam and Rockville.
To honour her birthday, we look at some of her most memorable roles over the years.
Meme – Muvhango
Meme was introduced as an ordinary girl who came from humble beginnings but soon became the show’s bitchiest characters who happened to be a gold-digger as well. She was ruthless in her approach and fans of the show loved to hate her, but hated to love her for that role. This was her first television role and it set the bar for what was about to come in her career.
Odirile – The Throne
Tsholo further proved her acting skills in Mzansi Magic’s The Throne as Odirile – a master manipulator and the queen of evil. After killing her niece and poisoning her sister, she was adamant on claiming her title as the queen of Kweneng. Unfortunately her plans always seemed to fail and through this, she mastered the art of evil and showed South Africa that there was no end to her evil and greed.
Rakgadi Kedibone – The River
The River introduced Rakgadi as a parental figure in the Mokoena family after Malefu died. Little did we know that Rakgadi was going to parent the entire nation. This role has reminded South Africa of the Rakgadi’s in their lives and with each episode, her viewer sentiment grows, making this character one the best roles on television right now.
Happy birthday Tsholo!
