The Real Housewives of Cape Town (RHOCT) premiered on Mzansi Magic on 10 July 2022, to an unmoved crowd. The highly anticipated reality series comes after the gripping Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) and Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) franchises, but failed to impress viewers who are already used to the opulence and drama of the other housewives.

Both the RHOD and RHOJ shows aired on Showmax, however viewers can watch the Cape Town housewives on Mzansi Magic.

Setting the trend of dramatic first episodes during a party, The ladies got off to the wrong start at the party hosted by Loveline Abinokhauno AKA Mrs. Leo.

The cast includes Beverley Steyn, Thato Montse, Rushda Moosajee,  Loveline Abinokhauno, aka Mrs Leo, Camilla McDowell, Kutazwa ‘Rooksy’ Gqirana and  Lulwando ‘Lue’ Tukwayo.

Here is how viewers reacted with some pointing out their ages being an issue:

Before its premier, Shirley Adonisi, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said, “We look forward to premiering this exciting new addition on Mzansi Magic, which will no doubt keep our audience hooked and will undoubtedly be of the premium quality our viewers have grown accustomed to,” says .

She continues: “This may be a global franchise, but our spin on it is very much South African. The storylines explored on the show and the cast’s lives are as authentic as they come. As a channel, keeping up with our viewers’ tastes and preferences is important, and this is evidence of that.”
