Amapiano sensation Young Stunna was announced as one of this year’s international BET Award nominees under the viewer’s choice category Best New International Act alongside Nigeria’s Ayra Starr and Pheelz yesterday. He’s since shared his excitement for this feat on Instagram thanking his mom and the many fans that continue to support him in his newly found superstardom and musical career.
Earlier in May, BET and BET International reveal Amapiano sensation Young Stunna as its BET Amplified artist for May 2022. BET Amplified is BET Music's stamp of approval on the next big thing in music. Yesterday, the Black Entertainment Television awards announced him as a viewer’s choice award nominee under the Best New Internation Act category.
Young Stunna joins fellow South African artists who have been nominated such as the Major League DJz Banele and Bandile Mbere who are nominated at the 2022 BET Awards under the Best International Act and other African big heavyweights in music including Nigeria’s Tems, Fireboy and DRC’s Fally Ipupa.
The 22-year-old Young Stunna who is born and raised in Daveyton, South Africa has taken the music industry by storm with his new-age Amapiano hits, including “Ba Xolele,” “Camagu,” and “Bopha.” Following the success of his hit single, “Adiwele,” Young Stunna, dropped his debut album titled Notumato, which means new beginnings in isiXhosa. The breakout album became #1 across all genres in South Africa and charted highly in multiple African markets like Ghana and Nigeria within its first week of release. Notumato features top Amapiano talent such as Kabza de Small, Big Zulu, and Daliwonga.
Young Stunna recently participated in the coveted BET Hip Hop Awards International cypher and can now add BET Amplified Artist to his list of accolades. Growing up in Daveyton Young Stunna’s house was filled with multiple musical influences including his grandmother, who played Brenda Fassie, Lebo Mathosa. Their energy and content inspired him to pursue his dreams in the music industry. In grade 5, Young Stunna started writing and released his first track as a hip hop artist. In 2012 he started pursuing his dreams as a hip hop artist, poet, and actor.
