And from the sound of it she’s ready to give sister Kelly Khumalo a run for her money. Izikhali ZaMantungwa is a collection of 13 Afro-pop songs which are sure to be crowd favourites at weddings.
The Warner Brothers signee had only the best in mind when she went into studio, that’s why she got Mojalefa ‘Mjakes’ Thebe to be on production and co-writing duty.
Mojalefa, who’s known as a member of gospel group Redeemed, has been around the musical block quite a bit lending his hand in the production of albums for the likes of Zahara, Mzekezeke, Brown Dash, Ntando, Robbie Malinga and Nhlanhla Nciza. Now judging from his track record, Zandie’s got a winning partner in him.
The Robbie Malinga influence is quite existent in the album (they’ve both cited him as their inspiration) so it’s very Afro-pop with a usual side of ballads. There’s a surprise twist with the gospel and R&B touched ‘Love Like This’ which is really nice.
Favourites include the ballad ‘Ngiyakuthanda’, ‘Nang’ uMakoti’ , ‘Ngeke’, ‘Nami Ngiyalifuna’ and ‘Love Like This’. Stream/download it on your favourite digital platforms now.
