This past Tuesday our faves lended their voices to #blackoutTuesday in honour of the Black Lives Matter movement. Pearl Thusi is even looking to stage a peaceful protest.
One celeb that has been rocked to the core and wasn’t afraid to show it is media personality Zizo Tshwete.
The media personality took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the recent events.
“We need to start seeing REAL change! I want to leave a different inheritance for our children. We need to step up every single day, in which ever way that we can to make that a reality. Where our kids don’t have to have these same fights! What do you stand for! We need a generation willing to make it happen! This is a fight for us all!, she captioned the video.
In the video Zizo mentions that she had to part on the side of the road so she could pour her heart out. She appears to have been crying because her eyes were puff and red.
“I literally have been so overcome with emotion. We’re in a really difficult space in life, whether you’re in South Africa or you are in the world. We have been using the hashtag that black lives matter.
We’ve had hashtags before about countless things that we believe are important to us, we jump on the bandwagon, today, tomorrow and the next day, a few days from now we are thinking about something else we are talking something else, we’ve all moved on.
But what happens to the feelings that we have today? What happens to the feelings that we’ve had about these matters for so long? What happens? And what is our contribution? Because at some stage….., When are we gonna realise that help is not coming? If we are not going to stand up our selves and advocate for the things that we feel so passionate about?
At one point she breaks down and says this is not the world she want’s her son to be a part of.
She closed off the video with this powerful message.
Do something about it right now and everyday, until things start to change”
