Shona died on the 30th of June 2021, after he succumbed to COVID-19 related complications and his passing left a huge void in the hearts of many people.

In a tweet, Zolisa shared a picture of him posing alongside Shona and said he remembers him.

"It's at times like these I miss this guy. He would always say; "For each hater you have you have 1000 people who love you. Embrace their love, throw-away the hate." Thanks to my loyal family. My supporters. My friends. Lets keep going."
Shona continues to be celebrated by his family and every time when there is a special occasion they remember him. Connie recently told joined Kaya FM’s Breakfast show 959 Breakfast hosts Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka about what Shona said to her before he died.

"I remember the last thing I said to him and the last thing he said to me before they incubated him. As I was massaging his feet I told him that he is my soul mate. He couldn’t speak because he had a CPAP mask. He pointed at me too. Those were literally the last words spoken to each other before he went under.”

Connie recently reflected on a year without him saying she will forever treasure the memories they shared."1 year without your physical presence today and God continues to walk with us as we navigate our new reality. We miss you so much my LOVE but it is well. We are okay. You continue resting. You live on in our hearts and minds. MEMORIES ARE FOREVER AND ARE A TREASURE. Love you for eternity," she wrote.

Alicia wrote "Today marks 1 year without you, but it still feels like yesterday. Words can not describe how much I love and miss you, but I hope I’m making you proud."
Lesedi also penned an emotional message reflecting on the day her father passed, on saying the energy was heavy and weird, but today it is slightly better.

"This day felt so surreal. The energy was heavy and weird. Today I’m feeling it slightly but not as much… at least I’m trying not to feel it as much… mourning you is a never ending journey. To be honest, for me mentally, most of the year went by in a blur. It’s really not the same without you. I said it a year ago and I’ll say it again - thank you for everything. I love you. I miss you," she wrote.
