The model raised the South African flag high when clinched the title on 8 December 2019 at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Zozibini became the third woman from South Africa to take the crown. Taking to her Instagram account she reflected on the momentous moment of her crowning and she is beaming with pride.
She said it reminded her of her purpose and that she has always wanted to contribute to the universe, even if only a small amount.
"I can't believe it's been 2 years already. In this 2nd year of my @missuniverse crowning anniversary I am reminded of purpose. I've always known from a very young age that I wanted my life to count for something special that would be meaningful not only to/for myself but for others as well. I wanted to make a contribution, even if just a small fraction to the Universe. My heart swells with gratitude and pride whenever people from different spheres of life tell me that this win moved or touched their lives in some way because that is exactly what I hoped it would do," she wrote.
She promises to continue breaking down barriers and entering spaces that were previously inaccessible to us.
"I am so happy and humbled to form a part of a much needed magical shift in beauty, society and culture. A lot of work still needs to be done but I want to take a moment to thank those who came before us, those who are with us and the future generation for all the work that they have done and will continue to do in breaking these barriers and entering spaces that were not available to us before. We belong in every space we imagine ourselves in. Claim it!"
As a celebration of this special day, here's my heart in a message and the very first ever photo I took on my first day as Miss Universe 2019. Unbeknownst to me that I would go on to serve as the longest reigning Miss Universe in history. Thank you all for being by my side all of 525 days (yes I countedđŸ¤£). Your continued love and support means the world to me. I cannot wait to write new chapters and open more doors with you all by my side still, she concluded.
Zozibini won the hearts of many people at the Miss Universe 2019 finale. When Steve Harvey asked her what should we be teaching young girls, Zozibini's eloquent response left many convinced that she was fit to become the next Miss Universe. The beauty responded by saying,
"The most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It's something that has been lacking for a long time. Not because we don't want to, but because of how society has labelled women," she told Harvey. "I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity. That is what we should be teaching these young girls. To take up space. Nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself."
