Children are prone to look up to celebrities who fall under the same peer group as them.

Child stars usually fit this category therefore kids probably relate to their music or any other age appropriate content.

SABC 1's most iconic children's programme, YOTV, has been on our screens for a very long time.

One is reminded of an exciting period in which the only thing that mattered after a long day at school, was making it on time for our favourite shows. But the content wasn't entirely the pulling factor  - the presenters were simply inspirational and held it down!

A lot of the media stars that we enjoy presently, come from the school of YOTV!

Let's take a trip down memory lane with some of the most iconic and memorable former YOTV presenters!

1. Psyfo.

During an interview,  Sipho Ngwenya, better known as Psyfo in these streets, mentioned how he could gauge where his claim to fame truly lies -  by the name his fans call him.

If it's Psyfo, then they're most likely to have been more exposed to his work as a television presenter and Ajax (a character that he portrayed on Generations) tells of fans that watch him flex his acting muscles on Generations.

Psyfo has transcended the 'child star' status by occupying the role of a junior commissioning editor on Mzansi Magic.

2. Selae Thobakgale.

Oh man, who could ever forget the charming and sweet Selae?

What also stood out about her was when she would simultaneously speak English and SePedi with so much steadiness and confidence.
Not much is known about what work she's currently busy with.

3. Sade Giliberti.

Before the likes of Bonang Matheba came about. No one made television presenting seem so cool other than Sade.

She went on to present a dance competition television show, So You Think You Can Dance on SABC1.

Word on the streets is that she's now based in London.

4. Hulisani Ravele

This freckled beauty was introduced to the public as Cece (lia) but her growth came with a lot of changes.

One such is when she later reverted to her TshiVenda middle name, Hulisani. The 31-year-old was probably unconscious of the fact that she was breaking barriers for little girls with freckles.

5. Tumi Voster.

The young lady that we see today is a product of YOTV.

Even though Tumi Voster had a quiet run as a presenter on YOTV, many of her present followers have come a long way with her.

6. Musa Mthombeni.

Most of the former YOTV presenters mentioned above are still actively working within the Arts... well except for Musa.
