Afro-soul singer Zahara, whose album has been selling like hot cakes, finally spoke about her reasons for charging what is alleged to be R75,000 for an appearance.
This came after she was dropped and replaced by Theo Kgosinkwe from the group Mafikizolo at the World Aids Day Concert in Eastern Cape because she was too expensive.
She said in an interview with Sowetan that she will neither admit nor deny the allegations that she charges more than R75,000 for an appearance.
“I have worked hard and I believe that I am worth everything I get. We know of international artists who come here and get paid a lot of money, but that is never a big deal,” she said.
It also reported that international artists charge from R350,000 per performance.
