So this weekend I attended my very first J&B Met…
Well besides the poor PR, it was a lovely event… Now I hate bringing up silly things, especially if it means I am burning bridges, but this I have to….
The PR company continued to call me Mike Stefano, after me correcting her many times.
I mean, surely if you are in PR, you should get the media’s names right. Especially after they have corrected you. And her response in upper case was so unprofessional. I mean, I reviewed the J&B Met twice on Metro FM, on eTV’s Sunrise, on Trans Africa Radio as well as here on my website. And she still has such an attitude and gets my name wrong… Then I forgave her, cause she said she was busy and I am sure she was, but then I went to collect my accreditation and look what the envelope said….
Ya… Well hopefully now, Kate will remember Mike Stefano…
Apparently there was lots of Drama with accreditation. SABC 3′s Flash were only given general entry. And Alan Ford wasnt invited at all. Alan turned to the papers to share his thoughts and it was all over the media yesterday… Apparently the client only wanted young black people between the ages of 18 – 25…. *sigh* I am not Debra Patta of the social scene, so Im not going to investigate the full story, but I am sure the truth will come out soon…
Anyways, back to the J&B Met… My first J&B Met…
I was dressed by a young Cape Town designer called Mkhululi Dukuza of Matthew Victress. I thought its appropriate to be dressed by a Cape Town designer seeing as the event is in Cape Town.. Makes sense… Anyways, when I saw my outfit, I thought it made no sense…lol… But I loved it… The theme of the Met was “Made Different” and my outfit was not the usual colourful stuff you would see me in. It was black and dramatic. Plunging neck line, a train and a corset. All things I wouldn’t usually wear. Only problem is I was wearing black, not a good idea in summer… Was boiling… But I think, black and white were the colours of the day…
Mkhululi of Matthew Victress dressed both Boity and myself… Neither of us have been listed as great fashion icons, but I think Mkhululi made us look good…
I think Boity looked cute in a black and gold dress. So much better for a day event like this… A lot of people were wearing long gowns… So not right for a day at the races…
By far, one of the best dressed was your girl B… Dressed by Gert Johan its become a basic that Bonang is on the best dressed lists… I loved her paper hat… Very stylish…
Jeannie D hosted the live red carpet. She wore two outfits. This was her second outfit… Here she is with her fellow Top Billing presenter, JoAnne who looked gorgeous. Even though I think tutu’s are so last season, she pulled it off…
South African legend, Thembi Seete looked cute. She wore a black mini with a gold motif. Very Egyptian! I think the shoes were out of place… Blue and pink…. *Hides behind a packet of skittles*…lol….
She was in New York with her boyfriend and she confirmed they are not engaged… Yet…lol…
“If you like it, Bo shoulda put a ring on it…” I love Thembi tho…
Chomee wore an old dress from Robot in Sandton. Her make up is done well but the dress..
Pearl and Girlicious (La Vuvuzela) must have been working for a solar power company… The walking mirror balls of the J&B Met… La Vuvuzela were dressed by an arts and craft store and Pearl was dressed by Sylvester… Agg, they lucky they pretty…
Roxy Burger and SydMolife added some colour to the marquee… Purple was the hottest colour at the SAG Awards on the 29th Jan in LA, however Roxy was one of the only people who wore purple. #FashionForward. Sydney wore a chiffon number with a situation on his shoulder… To be honest, I was jealous… The situation was hot…
Lunga also wore purple… (Another Fashion Forwrd guy). He was dressed by the House of Ole… But he was acting like a celeb… To busy to take a picture…
Mkhululi of Matthew Victress with Seli’s Zizo and Lunga… I spotted five people in this dress. Dineo Moeketsi is wearing the very same dress in the latest Drum Magazine… Im glad I introduced her to my designer, Mkhululi. She is by far one of the pretties girls in the entertainment industry. But the fashion sense (or lack of)… SMH
Metro FM Breakfast producer and journo with Lorna Maseko. Catch her on your magazine stands this month and next month… She also wore black & white….
SABC actor Neo also wore black and white…
Metro FM’s Zeal also wore Black and White… This was the first time I met the voice behind Metro FM’s Saturday party show.
Slikour wore a red jacket designed by Paledi. Sure he was boiling in it…
Phila wore a light blue jacket… He looked cute…I didnt get her name, but I liked her…
Miss Earth SA got a lot of attention… This is the first time I have met her… She is awesome… Tall.
The stylish Trevor wore the Nik Naks jacket…
T Bo Touch got the crowd dancing… I like him #NoHomo
Darling Gert and his man were pretty in pink… Nice eye teaming up pink and brown… (Thumbs Up)
Cape Town based singer looked uber trendy in a military styled shirt with beads…
Tried to get a picture of AKA, but yo, he’s fans were all over him…
Farah and Mokgadi… Even tho Mokgadi wore flops with her outfit for her ankle, I think it looked nice. That’s style, teaming it up with the dress.
Blogger Clayton looked cute…
So cute that Andre matched his bow with Farah…
Yo! I dont know who this was, but the colour blocking!!! I like it tho…
Overall I enjoyed my first J&B Met.
Thank you SABC. I now know what to do for next year. No corset, no train and no black…
Would like to thank Hollow on the Square for accommodating me for the week.
As well as Matthew Victress who dressed me.
